Previous versions of HTML.edit included a copy of A Beginner's Guide to HTML  (HyperText Markup Language), which provides a good overview of the basics to begin scripting. This and the HTML 2.0 DTD draft (which specifies HTML formally) are available online and are updated periodically by their respective authors.

Included in the Hotlist menu are URL references to A Beginner's Guide , the HTML 2.0 draft, as well as other development resources. Use the Browse Hotlist submenu (located on the tool palette Preview menu) to browse any of the various online guides. These can be viewed online, or downloaded ("Save as" or "Save Source"), imported into HTML.edit and viewed offline using the Preview command.
